What information do we collect?

We collect several kinds of information from this website:

  • order and payment details for orders placed
  • details for additions to our mailing list

On Floris Books' mobile applications, When Wine Tastes Best and the Biodynamic Gardening Calendar, users can access these apps without providing personal data. Floris Books will not collect, store or use any personal data from our app customers.

When Wine Tastes Best and the Biodynamic Gardening Calendar both feature in-app purchase options. Floris Books does not collect user payment information. User payment details will be collected, stored, and used by Apple or Google.

By using or downloading our App(s), you agree to the collection, use and disclosure of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with these terms, please stop using the Service and delete the App(s) from your Device.

Use of personal data

Our mobile applications do not require you to enter any personal data.

You can also access our website without providing Personal Data. However, some services require you to provide information for us. These cases are explained below. In these situations, if you withhold any Personal Data requested by us, it may not be possible for you to complete a task on the website e.g. purchasing a product or registering for our mailing list.

Mailing list

If you register for our emailing list, we collect some personal information:

  • your name
  • your email address
  • password
  • your subject interests

We use that information to:

  • contact you about subjects where you've indicated an interest
  • contact you if we need to obtain or provide additional information
  • check if our records are correct

This information is held securely by Floris Books until you unsubscribe from our mailing list. We don't rent or trade email lists with other organisations or businesses.

We use the MailChimp service to deliver our email newsletters. We gather statistics around email opening and clicks using industry standard technologies to help us monitor and improve our emails to you. For more information, please see MailChimp's privacy notice.

If you are subscribed to our print mailing lists, we may send your personal information (name and address) to a third party mailing company, to complete this mailing on our behalf. Your data will be transferred securely and will only be used for the purpose of completing this mailing.

You can unsubscribe to mailings at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any of our emails or by emailing us at floris@florisbooks.co.uk.

Log files

Log files allow us to record visitors' use of the website. This information is used to improve the website in the future. Log files do not contain any personal information.

On our apps, the app store you purchased from will collect information that your device sends whenever you use the app. This Log Data may include information such as the IP address, location, the time and date of your usage. In addition, we may use third party services such as Google Analytics that collect, monitor and analyse this type of information in order to increase our app's functionality. These third party service providers have their own privacy policies addressing how they use such information.

Credit/debit card transaction and security

For your security, authorisation on all orders will be checked with the credit card company before books are despatched. Additionally, our secure server software is industry standard and encrypts all your payment details, including credit/debit card number, name on card and expiry date.

On the When Wine Tastes Best app and the Biodynamic Gardening Calendar app Floris Books does not collect user payment information. User payment details will be collected, stored and used by Apple or Google.

Cookies

We sometimes place small data files on your computer. These are known as cookies. Most websites do this.

They improve things by:

  • remembering settings, so you don't have to keep re-entering them whenever you visit a new page
  • remembering information you've given (e.g. your postcode) so you don't need to keep entering it
  • measuring how you use the website so we can make sure it meets your needs

Floris Books cookies

When you log in to the Floris Books website, a cookie remembers your username and password for the duration of your session on the website, so that you can claim your free book at checkout.

When you add books to your shopping cart, a cookie remembers which books you have added for the duration of your session on the website, so that your order can be processed.

Google Analytics
When someone visits www.florisbooks.co.uk we use Google Analytics to collect standard internet log information and details of visitor behaviour patterns. We do this to find out things such as the number of visitors to the various parts of the site. This information is only processed in a way which does not identify anyone. We do not make, and do not allow Google to make, any attempt to find out the identities of those visiting our website.

_utma – This randomly generated number is used to determine unique visitors to our site. Expires in 2 years.
_utmb – This randomly generated number works with _utmc to calculate the average length of time users spend on our site. Expires in 30 minutes.
_utmc – This randomly generated number works with _utmb to calculate when you close your browser. Expires when you close your browser.
_utmz – This is a randomly generated number and information about how the site was reached (e.g. direct or via a link, organic search or paid search). Expires in 6 months.
GDS_successEvents, GDS_analyticsTokens – These cookies help us identify how people use this website so we can make it site better. Expires in 4 months. These cookies are used to collect information about how visitors use our site. We use the information to help us improve the site. The cookies collect information in an anonymous form, including the number of visitors to the site, where visitors have come to the site from and the pages they visited.
