A close reading of the Old Testament, bringing the imagery of the text to life.
Description
Beginning with the two complementary accounts of the creation of man, Frieling goes on to reconsider some of the best-known stories : the sacrifice of Isaac, Balaam's ass, the three men in the furnace, as well as four psalms. He includes chapters on less familiar topics such as the idea of many Gods, and the building of the tabernacle in relation to the creation of the world.
Frieling's attention to details of the text brings the imagery of the stories of the Old Testament alive, and throughout the book, the movement towards Christ's incarnation and deed of redemption is never long out of sight.
