Isla and Pickle

One morning Isla and her best friend Pickle, an adorable miniature Shetland pony, receive an exciting invitation. Isla's friend Rosie is having a Pony Party on the beach for her birthday. There's just one problem -- Isla hasn't learned to ride yet!

Dad asks Farmer Jess to give Isla some lessons, but learning to ride Pickle turns out to be trickier than she thought. They practise hard all week, but on the day of the party can Isla stay in the saddle and keep cheeky Pickle out of trouble?

Wee ones will giggle their way through Isla and Pickle's light-hearted adventures in this third book about a feisty little girl and her lovable Shetland pony who live on a Scottish island.

There Was a Wee Lassie Who Swallowed a Midgie illustrator Kate McLelland brings the lovable pair to life in bright, humorous illustrations.

'This is a lovely, brightly-colourful book, filled with things that pre-schoolers (ours anyway) can't resist, like party hats, balloons and beautiful cakes, plus adorable characters and plenty of gentle humour. The strength of Isla and Pickle's special friendship shines from every page.
Our copy was missing when I went to write this, and had to be fished out from its hiding place under a sleeping small person's pillow -- in this house, that's the best review a book can get!'

Praise for the Isla and Pickle series:

'Upbeat, cheerful, and just right for those who enjoy a good pony story (or dream of having a horse of their own). Colorful illustrations with plenty of background detail show little Pickle to be the kind of slightly mischievous pony that would make a good pal. Isla, meanwhile, decked out in a cable-knit sweater and plaid boots, is just determined and resourceful enough to deserve him.'
-- Randall Enos, Booklist

'This is a delightful story about friendship and enjoying life -- messy or not! The illustrations are delightful and packed full of humour and you are bound to fall in love with little Pickle and his loyal friend Isla. We love it!'

'Kate McLelland's bright and funny illustrations make this book instantly appealing... A perfect book for fans of horses and ponies that is sweet and full of fun.'
