Description
The hare thistle (or sow thistle) is a tall relative of the dandelion and was the inspiration behind the creation of this beautifully illustrated children's book. Gifted teacher and artist Gertrude Teutych's love for this special plant led her to create a story, to share its unique development with children.
Gertrude's pictures and words imaginatively explore the stages and formations of the plant, detailing how the plant changes and grows its jagged leaves, prickles, lines and dimpled bud heads as it develops.

Author
Gertrude Teutsch (1918-2009) was a talented teacher and artist. She wrote a number of books for children including The Dandelion's Cousin and On the Way to Christmas, and also translated Rudolf Steiner's The Genius of Language. She lived in San Diego, USA.
