Description

Dad takes Arden to explore the Scottish island that will soon be their new home, hoping to ease Arden's worries about starting at a new school. They discover lots of exciting wildlife, including a pair of nesting golden eagles with a tiny chick!

Over the summer, Arden and Dad watch as the golden eagle chick grows bigger and stronger until, one day, it hops, flaps and makes its first flight from the eyrie. It doesn't make it very far, but Dad says it will keep trying. When it's time for school to start, will Arden be like the little eagle chick and learn to soar?

Author

Catherine Ward is a children's author and geographer, with experience working in primary schools and a passion for wildlife conservation. She is the author of The Emerald Forest, By the Beaver Pool and My Golden Eagle Summer. Catherine lives with her family in Leicestershire.

Esther Kent is an illustrator, author and designer. She studied at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design, Dundee, and worked for several years in arts management. She now creates stationery and homeware and illustrates picture books including her debut book Molly's Circus and My Golden Eagle Summer. Esther lives in Kinross with her family, a cat, a dog and some chickens.
