Christopher J. Moore<\/strong> was a commissioning editor at Floris Books for 3 decades, starting in 1989, when he shared the kitchen table workspace at Christian Maclean\u2019s house before the move to our first office at Harrison Gardens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was a time of expansion for Floris, and Christopher helped to strengthen the Christian Community, Steiner-Waldorf and children\u2019s book offerings while opening the list to a wider variety of topics, especially in ecology, biodynamic wine, alternative design, complementary health, and holistic philosophy. Christopher had an understated tact with authors, an ear for good wording, and a capacity to develop ideas into a workable structure. He shepherded numerous Floris books into being, including Erwin Laszlo\u2019s Creative Cosmos<\/em> (1993), Peter Bunyard\u2019s Gaia in Action<\/em> (1996), David Lorimer\u2019s Spirit of Science<\/em> (1998), John Wilkes\u2019s Flowforms<\/a><\/em> (2003) Daniela Drescher\u2019s In the Land of Fairies<\/a><\/em> (2004) and Isabel Wyatt\u2019s Eight-Year-Old Legends Book<\/a> <\/em>(2009). The last book Christopher edited for Floris was Gary Lachman\u2019s Dreaming Ahead of Time<\/a><\/em> (2022).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Christopher is remembered for what Christian describes as a characteristic \u2018stroke of genius\u2019 solution for cutting through the ever-increasing number of appointments at the Frankfurt Book Fair: \u2018Why don\u2019t we just see the people we like?\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We think of him at such events, dining on good food and better wine, in generous, amused conversation with the writers and publishers he liked \u2013 and who liked him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Christopher retired from his work with Floris in 2020 to live beside the beautiful River Earn at Comrie in Perthshire. He died on 1st<\/sup> April this year. Our thoughts are with his family.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
