What better excuse than National Baking Week?<\/p>\n<p>This recipe for a cherry focaccia is taken from <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.florisbooks.co.uk\/book\/Rikke-Rosengren\/Pumpkin+Soup+and+Cherry+Bread\/9781782502005\">Pumpkin Soup and Cherry Bread<\/a><\/em>, which is full of nourishing, family-friendly recipes. We&#8217;ve included two recipe sizes below, so you can make a loaf for your family, or share with a whole room of children.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Cherry focaccia<a href=\"http:\/\/www.florisbooks.co.uk\/book\/Rikke-Rosengren\/Pumpkin+Soup+and+Cherry+Bread\/9781782502005\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-3784\" src=\"http:\/\/www.florisbooks.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/CherryFocaccia-276x300.jpg\" alt=\"National Baking Week: Cherry focaccia\" width=\"276\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.florisbooks.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/CherryFocaccia-276x300.jpg 276w, https:\/\/www.florisbooks.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/CherryFocaccia-768x836.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.florisbooks.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/CherryFocaccia-941x1024.jpg 941w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 276px) 100vw, 276px\" \/><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>To serve a family of four<\/em><br \/>\n450 g (1 lb) stoned cherries<br \/>\n1 tsp dry yeast<br \/>\n500 ml (1 US pint) lukewarm water<br \/>\napprox. 250 g (9 oz) plain flour<br \/>\n1 tbsp olive oil<br \/>\n50 g (1 \u00be oz) demerara sugar<br \/>\nsalt flakes to sprinkle on the bread<\/p>\n<p><em>To serve 40 children<\/em><br \/>\n\u2022 4kg stoned cherries<br \/>\n\u2022 4 tbsp dry yeast<br \/>\n\u2022 4l lukewarm water<br \/>\n\u2022 c. 4.5kg plain flour<br \/>\n\u2022 4 tbsp olive oil<br \/>\n\u2022 400g demerara sugar<br \/>\n\u2022 salt flakes to sprinkle on the bread<\/p>\n<p>1. Mix the flour, water and yeast to a dough, knead and allow to prove for around 1 hour.<br \/>\n2. Push the dough into a suitable tin, distribute the stoned cherries evenly across the top.<br \/>\n3. Leave the dough to prove for another 30 minutes.<br \/>\n4. Sprinkle the sugar, salt and olive oil onto the bread.<br \/>\n5. Bake it at 180\u00b0C (350\u00b0F) for around 30 minutes, depending on size.<\/p>\n<p>When your focaccia has turned a golden brown colour, take it out the oven to cool.
