We are delighted to announce that we have been shortlisted for the Saltire Society’s first annual Scottish Publisher of the Year Award.

The Saltire Society announced the creation of the award earlier this year and we, along with 18 other publishers, submitted our application and anxiously awaited the results.

Floris have been shortlisted with fellow Scottish Publishers Backpage Press, Barrington Stoke, Edinburgh University Press, Freight Books and Saraband, each of which have had brilliant achievements in the last year. We are thrilled to be in their company and look forward to the announcement of the winner on Friday 23rd August at the Edinburgh International Book Festival.

The shortlisted judges said this about Floris Books:

‘Among many impressive attributes the panel noted the way that–arguably-the company had revolutionised Scottish picture books producing work of exceptional quality in the process of re-inventing themselves. They have a strong and visible presence in the literature and educational sectors and an impressive record of supporting writers and illustrators.

We’re incredibly proud of our Picture Kelpies range of Scottish picture books, and of all the talented authors and illustrator who we work with, so those comments are deeply appreciated.
