Description

Conventional medicine focuses on the body's physical symptoms. But more and more patients are questioning the limitations of this approach and are exploring holistic approaches, such as anthroposophic medicine, which also addresses the human soul -- our individual thinking, will and feelings -- and the human spirit, our self-awareness and essence. Anthroposophic medicine is an extension of, not a replacement to, conventional medicine.

This comprehensive book introduces and explores the philosophy and practice of anthroposophic medicine, which is based on principles developed by Rudolf Steiner. It discusses many alternative therapies and areas of health including artistic therapies, massage, childhood illnesses, cancer and psychiatry.

Healing for Body, Soul and Spirit will inform and engage a general reader, with no medical background, who is interested in alternative and holistic approaches to human health.

Reviews

'This is an invaluable book [...] Whether you are a docture, nurse, complementary therapist, teacher or searcher this book takes you on a journey to broaden your understanding of the human being and, through this understanding, to learn how the imbalances within us can create disease; help can then be given to bring the body back into harmony and, therefore, healthy. [...] A book to be recommended.'
-- New View

'This book is an excellent introduction to the scope and potential of anthroposophical teaching in both medicine and education.'
-- Michael Endacott, Deputy Director, Institute of Complementary Medicine

'I would recommend this book to anyone working in healthcare -- whether orthodox or complementary.'
-- Dr. David Peters, British Holistic Medical Association

'This is a thoroughly revised, expanded and updated edition of the original which came out in 1992. It is a very comprehensive account of the nature of the human being as body, soul and spirit... it is really good to see such an accessible volume available again, one which can assist and appeal to the medical practitioner and layperson alike -- a 'first choice' for explaining to someone what anthroposophical
medical care is all about.'
-- Anthroposophical Society in Great Britain
